Capturing and disseminating - Session Outline
Purpose: To encourage participants to use different tools in order to capture lessons learned, case studies and best practice giving attention to the challenges in doing so. These tools will use electronic means to capture text (e.g. in the workshop blog), visuals (e.g. photos) and video/audio (e.g. record of their lesson learned/story).
Description: In teams, participants will have to answer scavenger hunt questions that will lead them to using the workshop blog, wiki and digital cameras to capture and disseminate photos and videos.
Outputs:
- Results from the scavenger hunt captured in the blog and wiki
Outcomes:
- A sense of the variety of media that can be used for capturing what people know
- An increased ability to capture and disseminate what people know
A Look at Some Tools: A Scavenger Hunt Exercise
- Identify a name for your team. Create a blog entry that introduces your team and its members. Include a photograph of the team in your blog post.
- What's one thing that worked really well for you today? What one thing that could have been better? Enter these into the wiki (from the front page).
- Take a photo of one of the World Café tablecloths/flipcharts to Flickr. Make sure that you include the tag 'kmtraining09' so that it can be found.
Judges Findings
The judges elaborated the following criteria to select the Scavenger Hunt winner(s): timeliness (i.e. the team who finished the 3 exercises fastest), quality of entries (both blog and wiki), and originality. The judges could not rule on the uploading of the World Café maps on Flickr since many groups had just created their accounts and the uploaded photos did not appear immediately.
